Basic knoledge of constitutional law
This course introduces to the Italian Constitutional Court. We will utilize a
case book approach, although we will make use of additional readings as well. In addition to learning about constitutional law in general, this approach is designed to expose students to judicial cases in order to understand the legal analyses employed by the Italian Constitutional Court.
The course consist of the following main themes:
1) Constitutional Rigidity
2) Judicial review of legislation: different models
3) The Italian Constitutional History
4) Organization and functions of the Italian Constitutional Court
5) Indirect access
6) Direct access

During the course the Professor will set a seminars schedule to elaborate
on the main course topics. Due to the large use and analysis of cases, the Professor will use also innovative teaching methods, such as "flipped classroom" and "debate" during the course.
- For students who attend the course final exam consists of a written comment of a Constitutional Court judgment. Class attendance and participation is fundamental for the evaluation.
Students who do not attend the course will sit for a written exam consisting in three questions on three topics of the program.
