Comparative constitutional law

Students approaching this course should have taken before at least one of these
courses:
- Comparative Constitutional Law
- Public Law
- Constitutional History
The first part of the course aims at the analysis and discussion of the current
developments of the main forms of governments in Europe in comparative
perspective. Particular attention will be devoted to the most salient current
features and phenomena of constitutional relevance in the world (constitutions and
impoverishment; dignity and privacy; judicial independence; federalism;
constitutional courts; transitional justice...).
The second part will be focussed on the U.S. case law regarding same-sex marriage.
The first part of the course deals with the current developments of the main forms

Materials will be made available during classes or students may provide them getting in touch with the professor.

Classes will tend to involve students in discussion and confrontations about the
topics dealt with in the course. Didactics in this course is very direct, informal, and
interactive. Particular attention is devoted to the current phenomena and events of
constitutional relevance in the world.
- Evaluations depend on the attitude on the part of the students to handle the
categories of contemporary constitutionalism and to develop thei rown critical and
analytical thought on the issues proposed.
