Exercise for the week of 16/03/20
Please follow this protocol for file names so that I won't be utterly confused by all the student's files.
Two letters by Gandhi-19/02/2020
Choose one of the letters and write an essay detailing the rhetorical strategies Gandhi employed.
Remember that, in the first letter, Gandhi is trying to appeal to the US against the interests of the UK. His principal interest is independence, which had been proceedeing until the war began. Independence has since been sidelined by the English, ostensibly until the war against the Axis is concluded.
The second letter is, perhaps, a bit easier to decipher and uses more rhetorical devices. Consider where he is and to whom he is writing.
Rhetorical Terms: examples and exercise
Also for the week of 12-02-2020, go through Churchill's speech notating where there are rhetorical devices and strategies.
Read Chamberlain and the next speech and decide where these individuals are toying with the truth.
