Ubertazzi BenedettaRicercatore Istituto di diritto internazionale e dell'unione europea (IUS/13) PresentazioneBenedetta Ubertazzi teaches and writes in the main areas of International Law, International Intellectual Property Law, Private International Law, Public International Law and European Union Law; she is currently tenured as an Assistant Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Macerata.Biography Benedetta has been granted a German Von Humboldt Fellowship for experienced researchers (2011-2013) hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law, Munich, Germany, and is a Visiting Professor at Augsburg University (Germany) in the frame of the Erasmus Fellowship (2010-2011). She is also a Visiting Professor at Complutense University of Madrid. Benedetta holds a Ph.D. in International Law (University of Padua, Italy). Her doctoral dissertation was published as a book in the series of books directed by Professor Fausto Pocar. It addresses the issue of the applicable law to legal capacity of natural persons in regards to different fields, among which international trade. Additionally, in her second book she analyzed the European Community (EC) Rome I Regulation and the issues of the applicable law to contractual obligations. Benedetta is involved with several prominent non-governmental and international organizations. She has received research funding from the European Patent Office (Munich, Germany) for researching on the issue of Immunity from Jurisdiction of States and also on the topic of Exclusive Jurisdiction and Intellectual Property. Also, Benedetta’s cooperation with the Max Planck Institute extends to participation on the group of experts called by the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, competition and Tax Law to actively participate at the presentation on the second Draft Principles on Conflict of Law in Intellectual Property, as part of the European Conflict of Laws in Intellectual Property (CLIP) group. This year (2010) she became elected Programme Committee Member for AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) and she participated as an Italian National Group Representative for AIPPI’s Working Committee on Exceptions to Copyright Protection and the Permitted Uses of Copyright Works in the Hi-Tech and Digital Sectors. In addition, Benedetta contributed as an Italian National Co-reporter to the Questionnaire on Jurisdiction and Applicable Law in Matters of Intellectual Property for the American Society of Comparative Law and currently lectures for the LL.M Master of Law in Intellectual Property jointly offered by WIPO and the University of Turin. Most recently, Benedetta attended UNESCO’s Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage as a Member of the Italian Delegation in Nairobi, Kenya. Benedetta’s teaching credentials also include appointments at: Catholic University of Milan; University of Florence; University of Urbino; University of Bologna; University Ca’ Foscari of Venice; Politecnico University of Milan; and University of Turin. She has also taught at several international institutions including: Universidad de Valladolid (Spain); Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain); University Rovina I Virgili, Tarragona, Barcelona (Spain); and University of Stockholm (Sweden). Benedetta has also been the recipient of several prestigious merit scholarships and awards from both Italian and international academic institutions.
