Streaming media and virtual worlds for e-learning courses (l. inglese)

- Prerequisiti
Students should be familiar with basic concepts of how to use a computer (either PC or Mac), including: loading and saving text files; accessing an external drive; basic OS functionality (cut-copy-paste, keyboard shortcuts, etc); and using e-mail and the Internet. Basic knowledge of audio-video applications is helpful, but not required.
- Obiettivi formativi
The overall goal of the course is twofold: (1) to introduce students to different media formats and their use in the educational field; (2) to make students develop a personal video project to include in their portfolio. The student is expected to: Create and publish instructional materials using a variety of media Engage in preproduction activities including storyboarding Plan and produce a short video project for educational use Evaluate the project using established criteri

Module 1 Introducing Streaming Media: - how streaming works - types of content for streaming - streaming technologies Module 2 Using streaming media in e-learning: - exploring a range of sample media learning materials - describing techniques and resources to get started designing and producing streaming media - using different types of streaming media (streaming video, streaming audio and narrated slide show) Module 3 Virtual worlds and educational uses: - introducing Second Life - describing case studies and educational projects - using machinima in Second Life Module 4 Portfolio development: transversal module - Independently plan, produce, edit and complete a short format video project. (Projects will be peer-reviewed and commented throughout the semester).
