Knowledge of the basic aspects of European history from the Middle Ages to the XXI century.
Learning the fundamental features of the historical development of European cities to build a
patrimony of useful knowledge for the enhancement of tourism. Experiencing the planning of tourist
and cultural routes within the cities.
The European Cities. History and Cultural Heritage
Reconstruction of the main characteristics of the historical evolution of European cities from the Middle Ages to the present. Analysis of economic, social, political and cultural urban environments in different geographical contexts. Examination of specific cases as examples of historical study of a city. Planning cultural routes within European cities: in this respect, students are invited to present
their projects.

Lectures designed to introduce and examine the main themes of the course. Analysis of historical
documents for the reconstruction of the fundamental aspects of urban development. Examination
and discussion of materials and tools for the planning of a tourist route.
- Oral examination. Evaluation criteria: 1. knowledge of the main characteristics of urban
development in Europe; 2. quality of the project presented.
