Basic knowledge in microeconomics
The course aims at offering knowledge on more recent developments in the
international trade and investments policies with applications to real world issues.
Students are expected to be able to understand and discuss
trade and investments policy issues at a basic level.
1. Inter-industry, intra-industry and intra-firm trade;
2. Trade policies and welfare;
3. Tariffs, export subsidies and quantitative restrictions;
4. Trade policy comparisons;
5. Trade-related policies
6. Trade agreements
7. Multinational enterprises: facts, issues and overview of theories
8. Determinants of Foreign Direct Investments
9. Effects of Foreign Direct Investments on host and home economies

- Written exam with twe problems similar to those included in the textbook and one
open question. The first two questions aim at checking skills in applying the theories
to real world issues while the third question is devoted to verify the theoretical
knowledge.
