B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
By the end of the course, the student will have: 1) strengthened his/her English skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking), specific to the field of International Tourism in the intermediate to upper-intermediate (B1-B2) level and business-related topics, such as human resources, marketing and branding, leadership and management, cultural awareness; etc.; 2) communicated in Business English and be able to create presentations, write emails, participate in meetings, make phone calls, and perform other important tasks related to business management; 3) deepened his/her knowledge in British and American culture.
International Tourism: Vocabulary and conversational/technical phrases in marketing,
designing tours, dealing with customer complaints, improving customer service,
business travel, niche and cultural tourism, tourism trends, tourism and the
environment, tourism and technology.
Business English: Creating business presentations, writing business emails, making business phone calls, participating in business meetings, and perform other relevant tasks required in business management. Topics to be discussed include human resources, branding and marketing, leadership and management, cultural awareness, diplomacy and negotiations, ethics, finance, customer service, and any emerging topics.
English Language: Question forms, conditionals, phrasal verbs, reported speech, verb tenses in the B1+/B2 level, passive tense, articles, pronunciation of regular verbs in the past form.
English Culture: American and British culture - work culture, and values and beliefs.

The final grade of non-attending students will be based 100% on the results of the final exam.
Additional practice exercises and readings will be provided on the course web page.
- Lectures and presentations with student interaction, in-class listening exercises, homework assignments, use of multimedia.
- Students can earn points towards their final grade if they participate in class discussions and don't miss more than 2 class meetings. The final exam will consist of written and listening tasks. The final grade is the sum of the final exam grade and the class participation points.
