- Reflections regarding different models of "modernity" and "transition process".
- Historical development of the Central and Eastern European States and Societies since the end of XIXth Century untill today.
- Development of the major political ideologies (Nationalism, Communism) in the area and their impact on the institutional structure.
- The process of "modernization": industrial Revolution and urbanization, and its effects on political culture.
- The process of EU enlargment.
