Prerequisiti

- Exhaustive knowledge of the general lines of modern European history.
- General knowledge of the main institutional models.

Obiettivi del corso

- Understanding the peculiarities of the State building process in Central and eastern Europe.
- Examination of interactions between the ideological, economic and institutional sphere, considering the constitutional changes occured during the XXth century.
- Reflections regarding different models of "modernity" and "transition process".

Programma del corso

- Historical development of the Central and Eastern European States and Societies since the end of XIXth Century untill today.
- Development of the major political ideologies (Nationalism, Communism) in the area and their impact on the institutional structure.
- The process of "modernization": industrial Revolution and urbanization, and its effects on political culture.
- The process of EU enlargment.
