- Understanding the peculiarities of the State building process in Central and eastern Europe.
- Examination of interactions between the political, economical and institutional sphere, considering the constitutional changes occured during XIXth and XXth century.
- Reflections regarding different models of "modernity" and "transition process".
- Traditional European institutional models: historical developments of political insititutions in England and Germany.
- Historical development of Central and Eastern European States and Societies since the end of World War II untill today.
- Development of the major political ideologies (Nationalism, Communism) in the area and their impact on the institutional structure.
- The process of "modernization": industrial Revolution and urbanization, and their effects on political culture.
- The process of EU enlargment.
