A good knowledge of modern history is recommended.
Aim of this course is to provide the student with a broad understanding of o the main events that have marked the history of international relations during the 20th centuries. After a general introduction to the subject, the main focus of the course will be on the issue of regionalism in international relations.
6 Credits programme:
- From the crisis of the Ottoman Empire to the "new diplomacy".
- WW I and the first crisis of European colonialism.
- The crisis between the two Wars.
- WW II and the genesis of the new world order.
- Decolonisation and the post-war order.
- Bandung and the birth of the Third World.
- From the Cold War to the competitive cohexistence.
- The crisis of the Soviet Union and the new world order.
