Comparative contract law

It is suggested to attend and succed the units on Private Law.
The unit will approach the study of contract law in a comparative perspective in order to become familiar with the main topics of contract law in the civil law and the common law legal traditions. The course aims at offering the fundamental notions and methodological tools for the formation of an international jurist profile, dealing with international commercial contracts.
The course will cover the following topics: comparative law (origins and methods); promise and contract (common law-civil law); the formation of contracts; pre-contractual negotiations; interpretation of contracts; mistake; breach of contract and remedies; supervening events; the international sale of goods (Vienna Convention).
Materials and texts will be suggested during the lectures and available at the teacher's webpage. For students not attending the lessons, see the textbook suggested.

- The examination will be oral. Students will be asked to show their knowledge of the main contents of the topics covered during the unit. The exam will assess in particular four skills: knowledge of contents, critical approach, clarity, fluency in english,
