The aim of the course is to teach you the basic features of public international law and the international legal order and the meaning of public international law for legal practice. The course offers you a first approach with international legal documents in order to test your capacity to analyze and interpret the legal issues addressed by these texts. Attending the course and passing the examination will enable the student to obtain an adequate basic knowledge of international law, as well as providing him/her with the methodological skills necessary to elaborate and develop this knowledge independently.

The examination takes place in written form, in Italian. In the examination the student is required to show an adequate knowledge of the topics covered in the syllabus by writing a paper, answering three questions. The student may not consult texts during the examination. The duration of the examination is two hours.
Criteria adopted to define the progression of the final examination mark:
- knowledge and ability to understand texts (20% of the overall assessment);
- ability to make connections between texts (20% of the overall assessment);
- ability to apply knowledge (20% of overall assessment);
- autonomy of judgement and critical thinking (20% of the overall assessment);
- transposition of acquired knowledge in terms of professional usability (20% of the overall assessment).
