Providing students with the skills and methods required to translate different types of texts from English into Italian and vice-versa in the field of business communication.

The course aims to provide linguistic training in the analysis and translation (from English into Italian and vice-versa) of different types of texts of increasing difficulty (considering both their linguistic structure and content), with an emphasis on the pragmatic dimension of each text so as to produce an adequate translation for the target audience in the context of business communication. Text analysis and terminology tools will be explored and fundamentals of text analysis will also be covered.

The materials for the exercises will be made available, either in printed or electronic form, before each lesson. Further bibliographic references will be provided during the lessons. No distinction is made between attending and non-attending students.

• Lessons include a practical component with active participation on the student's side through guided exercises, both individual and in group, which are then corrected and discussed together.

• There are no distinctions between attending and non-attending students. The evaluation consists of two written exams:

  1.A translation from English to Italian (3 CFU). The text will belong to one of the types discussed in class.

  2.A translation from Italian to English (3 CFU). The text will belong to one of the types discussed in class.

  For each exam, students will have 60 minutes. No dictionaries are allowed.

  The grades obtained in the two written exams of Module B will be averaged with the grades obtained in the exams of Module A for the final grade.
