Good knowledge of the English language (B1 level or higher). Advanced level of Italian language proficiency.
Providing students with the skills and methods required to translate different types of texts from
English into Italian and vice-versa in the field of business communication.
The course aims to provide linguistic training in the analysis and translation (from English into Italian and vice-versa) of different types of texts of increasing difficulty (considering both their linguistic structure and content), with an emphasis on the pragmatic dimension of each text so as to produce an adequate translation for the target audience in the context of business communication. Text analysis and terminology tools will be explored and fundamentals of text analysis will also be covered.

All texts will be available to the students before each lesson. No distinction will be made for not-attending students.
Teaching is carried out at least 70% in a foreign language (English).

Lessons involve a mostly practical approach and require the active participation of the students through guided exercises (text analysis, translation and revision) that will be then discussed and corrected together, using the translation techniques studies during the course.
There will be two written exams:
1) translation from English to Italian (3CFU) of a text of the same topics discussed during the course.
2) translation from Italian to English (3CFU) of a text of the same topics discussed during the course.
Each exam will last 60 minutes, with not dictionaries allowed. The following criteria will be taken into consideration during the grading process:
a) linguistic correctness, bot in English and in Italian (25%)
b) adherence to the topic, the skopos and the intended target (25%)
c) linguistic register (25%)
d) strategies applied during the translation process (25%)
