Knowledge of Ancient Greek (basic knowledge) is required. Knowledge of ancient Greek history is recommended.
Through the analysis of epigraphical and literary evidence the course intends to provide an overview of major institutional aspects of the Greek cities, with a special focus on the institutions of Sparta and Athens.

Attendance is recommended, but it is not compulsory. The students who cannot attend classes are kindly asked to contact the professor in order to agree upon an alternative program.

Face-to-face lessons.
- The oral exam is meant to assess students' knowledge of the contents of the handbooks listed above (30%) as well as their acquired capacity to read, translate and comment inscriptions and literary evidence analyzed in class (40%); in the oral examination the property of language, logical ability and critical reasoning will be also assessed (30%).
