Lingua e cultura italiana per il turismo
- A.A. 2023/2024
- CFU 3
- Ore 30
- Classe di laurea LM-49
All lessons are taught in Italian [with the use of English only as a bridge language in case of need], therefore it is advisable that students have an A2 language level.
The laboratory is aimed at developing competence in the communication of Italian cultural heritage, with particular attention to the assets present in the territory. This communicative competence is expressed both in a receptive and productive sense. In fact, the activities aim on the one hand to improve the ability to understand oral and written texts on tourism topics, and on the other to develop interaction skills in the Italian language. The work on the texts is also aimed at acquiring cultural coordinates, contents and approaches regarding the Italian and Marche cultural heritage.
The laboratory develops in a series of thematic paths, preceded by an introductory lesson and followed by a moment of feedback. Each of these paths allows you to observe a thematic area of ??cultural communication, conveying not only specific contents, but also an approach to the communication of the different themes.
The structure of the single meeting is divided into two parts: a first purely linguistic part in which - through specific materials that delve into particular domains of tourist-cultural communication (in the broadest sense of the term) - students are called upon to enrich vocabulary and structures of Italian language.
A second part of exemplification of tourist-cultural routes, always relating to different areas and domains (geography, art, gastronomy, literature, dialects, etc.) which constitute an enrichment of civilizational themes and at the same time an example for restitution activities which the students will be called upon at the end of the laboratory.
Some examples
- Traveling in Italy: from accommodation to catering
- Communicating "the" table: food and wine tourism
- The Marche in history
- Talking about and listening to art
- The Italian landscape: between geography and architecture
- Festivals, events and traditions, local and national
Transversally, each meeting will focus on tasks aimed at understanding the importance of creating thematic tourist itineraries, with insights into the characteristics of tourist communication, in order to guarantee a general overview of the topic regarding Italian cultural heritage, with insights relating to the Marche .
The work on the different themes will therefore be an opportunity to come into contact with the different sectorial languages, as well as with the Italian language in general.

Online activities
At the time of return, the students will be asked to present an Italian cultural asset of their choice or a tourist/food and wine itinerary, applying the methodologies and approaches observed during the workshop.
They will be given a short objective test to evaluate their written and oral comprehension skills. Afterwards, written and oral production skills will be tested through the presentation indicated above.
This presentation must be made in Italian and constitutes the laboratory exam.
The evaluation criteria for the presentations are: richness and accuracy of the contents, ability to present them in Italian (also using sectorial languages) and ability to apply the approaches to tourism communication presented during the course.
