By the end of the course, the student will have: 1) strengthened his/her Business English skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) in the intermediate to upper-intermediate (B1+ or higher) level and increased his/her knowledge of emerging issues/topics in the different subfields, such as in human resources, marketing and branding, leadership and management, cultural awareness; etc.; 2) a better idea about creating effective business presentations and emails, participating in/chairing meetings, and performing other important tasks related to business management; 3) deepened his/her knowledge of American work culture.
Business English: Business presentations, emails, and phone calls, participating in and chairing business meetings, brainstorming and problem solving, business lunch/dinner, job interviews and hiring. Topics to be discussed include emerging issues in human resources, branding and marketing, leadership and management, cultural awareness, diplomacy and negotiations, ethics, finance, customer service, and any other emerging topics.
English Grammar: Question forms, conditionals, phrasal verbs, reported speech, verb tenses in the B1+/B2 level, passive tense, indirect questions, language of negotiation.
American Work Culture: business practices in
hiring, promoting, exiting, management, salary negotiations, networking, work-from-home, etc.

The final grade of non-attending students will be based 100% on the results of the final exam.

Lectures and presentations with student interaction, group work, homework assignments, use of multimedia.
The final exam will consist of listening, writing and reading. Students who consistently participate in class activities can earn extra points to be added to the final exam score.
