Fundamentals of social and political history as well as of history of educational processes in modern and contemporary Europe.

The course aims at offering: a) a review of the more recent and qualified historiographic reflection on the history of special schools and education for students with special needs from the sixteenth to the twentieth century; b) an articulate description of the evolution of special school institutions and educational practices; c) an outline of the research methodologies and of the main sources, with regard to the ambit of the history of special education.

• Conversation seminars. During the seminars, we will discuss general problems concerning the historical and educational research methods and the historiographic sector; the student will be able to evaluate himself on these topics through discussions and a critical analysis.
  
  

• The final examination will be oral. The oral examination will focus on questions to prove the student's knowledge of the topics discussed during the lessons and studied by bibliography.
