Obiettivi del corso

This module develops technical competencies in digital geotechnologies for Tourism Geography. Students will master QGIS for spatial analysis, create interactive narratives using open-source web mapping tools and explore basic AI applications through codeless platforms. The course emphasizes critical evaluation of geospatial technologies within tourism contexts while applying theoretical concepts from Module A to practical problem-solving scenarios.

Programma del corso

The course begins with digital mapping foundations, establishing cartographic principles and geospatial data structures using open-source solutions. Students then advance to spatial analysis techniques in QGIS, examining tourist flows, resource management and site suitability through practical exercises. The curriculum progresses to web-based mapping techniques (GSuite applications) and storytelling using tools like StoryMap JS for creating interactive placetelling and tourism narratives. A specialized segment explores AI applications in Geography, focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs) for spatial query processing and codeless Machine Learning platforms for simple predictive tasks in tourism contexts. Throughout the module, theoretical frameworks from Tourism Geography guide technological applications, with continuous examination of ethical implications.
