Prerequisiti

There are no binding prerequisites or preparatory courses, however, the following will be fundamental:

Observation and listening skills

Positive attitude for interdisciplinary study and approach

A geographical atlas and a PC are required

Obiettivi del corso

The course aims to provide Geography’s foundamental theoretical tools, and to use them as keys for understanding the reality of macro-regions, individual States, other regional entities and their exploitation for tourism purposes.

Particular attention will be given to the “construction”, the exploitation and promotion of the landscapes

Programma del corso

Basic concepts of Environment and Landscape;

Territorial frameworks and Territorialization processes;

Environmental degradation and protection;

The changing relationship between man, humankind and nature;

Regional landscapes: Marche, Italy, Europe and North America;

Tourist Regions as complex and integrated territories;

The representation of tourist spaces and places.

Further information / additional materials

Any additional information and teaching materials will be included in the e-learning platform for those who are allowed to use the additional services in modality and learning, in the teacher webpage for non-attendees.

The introductory lecture of the workshop will be dedicated to the basic knowledge of the discipline and will also clarify what the preliminary knowledge consists of.

Metodi didattici
  • Lectures and topic discussion;

    Trainings and Tutorials in small and medium groups;

    Analysis of case studies;

    Field Trips;

    Individual and group simulations, offering the opportunity to deal with real "problem soving" and designing autonomous solutions.

Modalità di valutazione
  • There will be a twofold evaluation mode, including:

    1.     a low structuring level part (oral), that will be evaluated based on the correctness and the completeness of the informations, knowledge, mastery of the specific geography language.

    2.     a semistructured part: research activities and development projects (previously presented and discussed with the professor). The score assigned to this part, which is not mandatory, depends on the actual performance of research activities and projects and can therefore vary from 0 to 20 points (on the other hand, the oral part can vary from 10 to 30/30).

    The evaluation criteria will take into account the ability to critically rework the information, the clarity of the presentation and the ownership of the geographical concepts.
