From 2020 to 2024, before coming to Macerata, I taught in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, where I was also Postdoctoral Fellow for the project “European Local Colour Fiction in Transnational Contexts, 1830-1914” funded by the Dutch research council NWO as part of the wider project “Redefining the Region: The Transnational Dimensions of Local-Colour” (P.I. My research interests include 19th- and 20th-century Irish literature, regional fictionl in transnational contexts, travel writing studies, periodical culture. My first monograph—J.M. Synge and Travel Writing of the Irish Revival—was published by Syracuse University Press in 2017. My research on Synge, the Irish literary revival, Irish travel writing, Irish periodicals, and the European reception of nineteenth-century British and Irish local-colour fiction has appeared in the Irish Studies Review, Studies in Travel Writing, Journal of Modern Periodical Studies, Translation and Literature, Open Library of Humanities, and English Studies as well as in peer-reviewed collections. I currently serve as the Reviews Editor (post 1800) for English Studies: A Journal of English Language and Literature.
