Examination modalities

Please note that these instructions are addressed to attending and non-attending) students. OLAT students have a different program and different instructions.

The exam will be held in oral form and it will be divided in two parts:

1 = First part: non attending students will hold a discussion about one or two topics examined during the lessons, and explored by the textbook by Brent Ritchie (Managing Educational Tourism, 2003). E.g.: what is Ritchie's classification of educational tourism? What are the typologies of educational tourism? What are the differences between eco-tourism and nature-based tourism according to Ritchie? What are the characteristics of eco-tourists? What are needs and characteristics of seniors and adult tourists? And what are the positive and negative impact of eco-tourism? What is Cultural heritage tourism, and what are the educational needs of cultural tourists? What can be defined as school tourism? What are the main differences between school tourism and language school tourism? What are needs and characteristics of University and College Tourists?

  • In this first part attending students only can choose to discuss one of the group-exercises they carried out at the end of the lessons, e.g.:
- Aspinall foundation
- Eco-tourism trip planning
- Lascaux site
- Road Scholar
- school tourism websites
etc.
2. = Second part: presentation of a project work realised by each student (individually or in group). A template for the project work, with the instructions, has been uploaded to the Teams channel of the Course.
Deadline for the delivery of the project work
Please note that there are no fixed deadlines. Students can submit the project work when they are ready to take the oral exam. It is only recommended that students submit their paper one week before their chosen exam date.
