I am Associate Professor (tenure track) of Chinese Studies BA&MA  at the University of Macerata since Oct. 3, 2025. I was Assistant Professor (tenure track) of Chinese Studies (BA&MA) from Oct. 3, 2022 to Oct. 2, 2025. Before tenure tack, I've been Adjunct Professor of Chinese Studies (BA&MA) at the University of Macerata (2014-2021) and University of Urbino (2015-2021).

2025 (4 Novembre) – now: Rector’s Delegate for Internationalisation (Extra-EU).

2025 (Nov. 3) – now: Department of Humanities Delegate for Internationalisation (Extra-EU).

2024 (Jan. 18) – 2025 (Nov. 2): Department of Humanities Delegate to orientation for incoming students and tutoring.

2021 (Sept) – 2025 (June): President of the European Association for Chinese Philosophy (EACP) of which I served as Vice-President (2019-2021). https://www.ea-cp.eu/

I hold a Ph.D. in Intercultural Philosophy from the University of Urbino (Italy) with a thesis about Orientalism in modern Europe with a focus on the image of China and India within the Histories of Philosophy from late 16th to early 18th centuries. I also hold an MA in Asian Languages (Chinese and Sanskrit) from the University of Bologna, and an MPhil in the History of Philosophy from the University of Macerata (Italy), I was an Erasmus visiting student in France at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne (MA Philosophie comparée). I studied at the East China Normal University in Shanghai 华师范大学.

My areas of expertise are: 1. Neoconfucianism (道統, 氣學) and Contemporary New Confucianism in comparative perspective (i.e. Mou Zongsan); 2. Environmental intercultural philosophy (China-Europe); 3. History of Early Orientalism; 4. Contemporary Literary criticism (i.e. Yan Lianke); 5. Historiography of philosophy.

Since the academic year 2013-14, I am in charge of courses related to Chinese Philosophy, Chinese Literature, Chinese Language (literary translation) and Classical Chinese (philosophical texts).

EXAMS: Examinations are normally held in the professor's office, but in the event of a large number of enrolled students, the professor sends an email (or Teams notice) to all enrolled students a day in advance informing them of the room that may be reserved.
