Dr. Ilaria D’Angelo is Senior Researcher (RTD-B) of Didactic and Special Pedagogy at the Department of Education of the University of Macerata, obtaining the National Scientific Habilitation (ASN) (art.16 L. 240/2010) as a second-tier professor, competition Sector 11 / D2 (Didactics, Special Pedagogy and Educational Research).

The research activity of Dr. D’Angelo is focused on promoting educational planning in the Quality of Life paradigm for people with Complex disabilities and Complex Communicative Needs.

Her research interests are placed in the direction of internationalisation, thanks to collaborations with foreign institutions. In this regard, Dr. D’Angelo is part of the research group within the bilateral Italy-USA agreement between the Department of Education, Cultural Heritage and Tourism (University of Macerata, Italy) and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) since February 2022 to date.

Dr. D’Angelo also participates in several national and international research groups. She has participated in numerous international and national conferences. For her research activities, Dr. D’Angelo has received National and International Awards. She was the winner of the Brain Connection Award 2020, Inovação and Boas Práticas com Foco na Humanidad, and of the Brain Connection Award 2019, Special category Best Practice in Education. She was awarded with the Italian Inclusion Award 3.0, ed. 2018.

Dr. D’Angelo is part of two editorial series, namely: “Embodiment, Education, Inclusion”, Pensa multimedia, Lecce, Italia; “Traiettorie inclusive”, FrancoAngeli, Milano.

Dr. D’Angelo participates in the editorial committee of “Education Sciences and Society” (since 2019) – Peer Reviewed Journal, classified "A" by ANVUR.
